If we want money to fix poverty, then we need to direct that money to those who need it. Handing $1000 per month to Warren Buffet with the hopes that it trickles down to those who need it, is precisely the kind of thinking that allows for 554,000 Americans to remain homeless.

If UBI passed, it would just mean all the rents in San Francisco and New York would go up by $1000 a month. The money would go right into the pockets of Landlords. UBI is NOT good for millennial renters.

Why do all critics of UBI assume it is passed in a vacuum? By linking it to a consumption tax like a VAT you effectively are creating a rich to poor wealth transfer. And if it not universal it is much easier to get rid of.

Look at Alaska they are proposing severe cuts to their college programs in order to continue their current oil dividend. The oil divided is universal and loved and therefore nigh untouchable.

Actually the dividend would change everyones world! If on SSI you can keep benefits, or take the 1000 a month, or it might be an incentive to get a job, get off assistance, and get the 1000 on top. SS, VA DI are included to get the 1000 a month on top of these programs. Facts!
