Sigh. No. We did not make up that chart. That is the chart they posted themselves on what they claim to own in Star Control: Origins. You can visit their page and see it for yourself.pic.twitter.com/ZpM6yFpTZo

Ugh, you are correct. Starflight was released in 1986. I brain farted on the date.
Here's a corrected image. The date change doesn't affect the point I'm making at all.pic.twitter.com/3MWDSBO4bl
I can imagine many memes coming from this chart. How many other games violate Paul and fred’s alleged copyrights?
In essence. Except that's a nonsense argument. Think how many times you see programs list feature list comparisons. You can't copyright features. And anyone who has played SCO knows they don't really play that similarly.
The most egregious one is "Alien ships also travel through interstellar space and if they overlap your ship, you must talk or fight with them". That is the essence of all these games, and it's not their design element at all!
Well if Stardock is going to commit such grave sins as using popular genre tropes and gameplay elements, can they make me the scifi dynasty builder simulation/strategy game that Paradox won't.
Hey, just fyi... This comparison probably isn't a good one to make. The star control 2 & Starflight teams were collaborators. They actually appear in each other's credits. Greg from Starflight even did voice acting in SC2, you know what I mean?
I'd keep this one handy, because "one internet user was able to add another column from a still older game that has most of the same tropes and cliches in it within 10 minutes of the original being posted" is great persuasion for a judge.
Absolutely, I fondly remember playing Starflight 2 as a kid and you can clearly see the influence of that series on Star Control.
Why it's as if @Dogar_And_Kazon are full of shit. Quelle surprise.
>Starflight Nice. Loved the Sega Genesis version.
