Obvious moral of the story here - a big economy helps you get medals at the Olympics. And at the Winter Olympics, which by its nature excludes the Global South anyways, only the super-rich countries really have a chance

err UK came 2nd not 3rd. Gold medals carry more weight. Plus we have more silvers than china.
