Here's the other guest, Chandelle Summer, saying that @PeteButtigieg "made his gayness an issue in this campaign" by inviting @Chas10Buttigieg to the stage and sharing a kiss with him. "He could've said nothing and people would speculate about it, but he made it an issue."

I wouldn't have commented on Chandelle's overuse of Botox and hair color (though people would have speculated), but she put herself on television so now it's an issue.
She could have said nothing and people would speculate about it, but she made her lack of intelligence an issue.

Ms. Summer could have stayed quiet and not invited her mouth to share some bigotry and stupidity, and people would speculate about it, but now she made it an issue.
