In lockdown parents with small kids, school age or worried teenagers are under pressures no parenting manual prepared them for. Pressures the “childfree” - and I count myself here since mine are grown - are not enduring. For people who are not walking in their shoes to judge them

or think they know best, based upon their childhood memories or plain ignorant musings, is upsetting and inflaming. Yes, they love their kids, yes they are glad they gave birth, yes they know parenting is a privilege. But sometimes it’s fucking hard. So cut them a goddamn break.

I don’t have children and I’m really glad about that, especially now. My friends with children are going through very tough times. Lockdown’s been a doddle for me by comparison.
