Covid has consistently been found to cause brain injury: multiple studies showing this and the eveidence is clear at this stage.
The virus causes brain damage.

Of course all of these things have been reported frequently in Covid and LC....
The study shows clearly that there are biomakers in LC that can be found to help validate pateints: however, the special MRI is not being used diagnostially...
Why?

I’m concerned the #LongCovid conversation is somewhat turning into an elite one. My hypothesis is that some of those most in need of knowledge, care & support are the ones who don’t necessarily talk about it & can’t afford to rest, pace or even reduce their risk of reinfection.

Would this apply in 🇮🇪 Ireland too?

GPs have neither the expertise, nor the time to do this. You are busy creating a massive Long Covid burden every single day, @michrajah, because you refuse to do anything at all to suppress this illness. You don't then get to bail out and say "Lump it onto general practice". twitter.com/BigBadDenis/st…

Nonstop inflammation and immune problems top the list of potential causes of long COVID, but doctors say it’s growing clear that more than one thing is to blame for the wide swath of often debilitating symptoms that could last months or even years. wb.md/3l3WU1c

Well, that would be because *everything* about Covid is underappreciated.
When is the hammer going to drop?

We have all been playing Covid Roulette for the last year.
It's worth reading this by the excellent to understand what that means:

Covid roulette. Without clean air, the next infection could permanently disable you
But instead of taking simple and effective actions – proper (N95) masks in public places, filtration in shared spaces – we have steadily normalised a mass disabling agent.

‘The impacts of long Covid, according to health metrics researchers, are “as severe as the long-term effects of traumatic brain injury”.
Now we know how the virus attacks our cells, “traumatic brain injury” looks less like an analogy than a description’

Think with data cleaning it's 20%, but still awful. An equally important q is how much worse would it have been without such high recent bivalent boosting in the older groups for covid and whatif the flu vax match wasn't as good/uptake lower.

Mindboggling that this isn't on every front page. Irish deaths over Dec-Jan period just gone are *40%* higher than same period, pre-COVID. No room in mortuaries. Government can spin the 'dying from/with Covid', but can't spin huge increase in total deaths.

Tragically, it is my opinion that globally, we will see very little in the way of improved mitigations against infection being put into place in the short-term.

There's very little that can be done to stop the possibility of next winter being worse, other than to broaden flu vax and hope for a good match like this year and time covid booster in line with estimated worse wave, and push both very hard. The info campaign needs to starts now
