actually every human has a strong drive to collect halfmap errors, but in most people this manifests as the desire to raise children (a good source of such errors)

Replying to @VesselOfSpirit
it's when a person is bright enough to recognize an analogy between two things, and to start mapping them, but not quite bright enough to do it all the way some aspects are mapped well and other aspects are mapped poorly resulting in errors that are often funny

Replying to @gracecondition @VesselOfSpirit
oftentimes it is being over-literal and importing a thing from domain x to domain y, instead of finding the analogous thing in domain y the canonical hofstadter example is abc : abd :: xyz : ? and a funny halfmap answer is dyz
