My default model of our place in the Galaxy is there's a supermassive black hole at the center, and 'round the event horizon is where the ~thousands-so-far of superintelligences do their computing & development, and they mostly don't bother touching Earth etc but they monitor it.

What might they want to do with habited pre-singularity planets? Maybe put computers in all the stars, but I think the information value of planets vastly exceeds their raw resource value.

my filter model is that intelligence doesn’t spend effort seeking out other intelligence until threat-determination[in the window just prior to actionable harm]–>target-destruction OR contact (the former being likelier)

model seems justified by high search costs for minimal intelligence and diminished search cost for greater intelligence up until a point of inversion, at which the int B poses threat to int A
