If you're looking at someone overwhelmingly beautiful, and you get lost thinking about what you should do to deserve them, think alligators.
-
-
The initial idea was "Think about the non-universality of body aesthetics, evidenced by alligators finding each other sexy"
-
"And maybe that will put your feelings into a non-sacred perspective." But there are a few problems with that argument,
-
1) Overwhelming attraction is more like awe than sacredness-feel, 2) stucturally identical argu fails to trivialize morality
-
So instead I left it unexplained, inviting an interpretation where alligator are part of the romantic gesture.

Good template for proverbs. When up to your neck in sand, easy to forget your objective was to vitrify the dessert. When up to your neck in gold, easy to forget that your objective was to slay dragons. Those aren't good, but I think there probably are lots of good ones.
