I seem to recall the company claiming that the reactions were not hazardous to health. I guess first responders believed the company.

Duhh!! The company was already flagged by OSHA. What smoke can you walk into without gagging? Responders should have their own procedures.

They were over a mile away from the plant and they were given bad information by Arkema. They're not gods.

It's a plant explosion. Common sense should prevail w/o info from the Co. The proper breathing apparatus should've been first concern.
