Could just be an unfortunate spike. Also did you choose wired connection in your Wii U settings?
I played on for glory for 30 minutes just to see if the lan adapter I got is working properly and it somehow made my wifi even worse. I'm genuinely confused as of why.

Did you go into the internet settings to add the wired connection?
