I'll admit I've have my gripes at times, but it never evolves into what has essentially become the norm of smash Twitter

It's because people don't seem to understand when it's not okay to say things. The Bayo hate train became a norm, so people thought that...

Was acceptable, and when top players complaining about a game became a norm, more jumped on the bandwagon. C'est la vie. (I think that's it)
