THIS! I was a marine science major when I started university, left and came back for computer science. Most marine sci people are cool, but broke as hell unless you become a tenured professor. Field work is fun, pay is laughable.

Also, being a real "scientist" mostly involves lab time, placebo-controlled double-blind studies, and sci-bureaucracies. That sh*t is lame. Doing field work is very "anecdotal" from a sci perspective, but UNBELIEVABLY rewarding on a personal level.

I never understood people who studied Marine Biology. Biologically speaking, Marines aren’t that much different than soldiers, sailors and airmen. They’re just a special breed in attitude and lethality.
