The smaller team sizes and shorter lifespan of viability in the pro scene actually make it more likely for players to be traded/dropped, than traditional sports so looking for stability with a team and its players is going to continue to be rare.

I agree that fan interaction is more personal in esports, it might incentivize a team to try and keep a player for longer if they are popular with the fans, but if that player is not performing in game I don't think the popularity will mean much to their organization.
