i mean theres so many different ways and theorys about what meditation is, i have tried some things and the thing i regularly do is just at night aswell, its really random but the easiest way i get into a completely thoughtless state is to get my jaw and tongue relaxed.

It's probably because its an unnatural thing to do and makes you focus on it, similar to focusing on your breathing
