Why do 2004/2005 MMORPGs have better replayability and unique content than current games? Oh also they can handle 2k+ people on screen at the same time without crashing. FPS drops sure but none of that phasing shit
Example: Silkroad Online has a 3 job system: Trader, Hunter, Thief. Trader job is to buy wares and move them from one town to another and resell for more money. Hunter job is to protect Trader from Thieves. Thieves job is to try and kill Trader and steal their wares to sell them.

Current Silkroad server i'm playing on made a Trader event with 300+ Traders and Hunters. The more wares a trader buys, the higher * the trade will become and the game spawns NPC Thieves based on that. Just look at this: https://streamable.com/4f6vg2

Honestly can't expect anything like that from current MMORPGs anymore, neither the idea to come up with a job system like that nor supporting this many players on same screen with a bunch of shit happening
