Are nootropics and cognitive supplements in esports effective? No. The best and most effective way to get a "neurocognitive enhancement" is to simply drink water, eat healthy, and develop a sleep routine. No supplement or nootropic can provide better results than that.
Yeah for sure, longterm the things u mentioned are most important anyway, like i said caffeine for temporary boost (e.g. tournaments). Also need to keep in mind diminishing returns from it and make sure not to be dependent on it as its' effect will be weakened significantly.

100%! One of the best ways to use caffeine for performance would be to moderate use to the lower end of the scale on the daily and then slightly increase it on comp day. Those diminishing returns you mentioned are hugely important to consider.

Quit caffeine cold turkey about 3 months ago, had a headache for ~2-3 days, but now when i actually need to be focused half an energy drink (important sugarfree) very noticeably improves my performance
