I'd say it's about nutrition. Lots of proteins but in general just work at a calorie deficit. @Krashy ?
I mean it's not like you're not gaining muscle if you have a calorie deficit, but if you have a surplus then you most likely won't lose any fat, so in order to do both you have to have a deficit

Correct, but what you don't want to do is have your body be in such a deficit where it also begins breaking down muscle to sustain itself.
