The part that is fucked is that the qualifiers did nothing for teams who ended up crashing 2-3 in a row and that alone will cost your tournament. Not only that but when it comes to this first come first serve bs alot of bad rosters made it over both liquid rosters for example.

I can't comment on the crashing because I think everything has been said on that within the community. As for the good/bad rosters making it through, that's just the unfortunate nature of an open system. It sucks, but that's just the nature of this format.

We had an open system... A qualifier. Teams not good enough or poor rng didn't make it. But oh wait, $150 later and some of those teams are in? How is that in anyway competitive, makes the whole thing a bit of a meme.

Because competitive typing is a thing lol

Fuck, you're right. However I'm sure I was told by EAs competitive boys that this was to give, unknown talent a chance... You know, like an open qualifier... Glad unknowns like NRG, fnatic & liquid are going.
Don't blame the players at all... But this system is stupid AF.2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

I think this is a little brash. Yeah, it's great that NRG/FNC are getting a chance to go through this system, but don't underplay the teams that we don't know about that are getting a chance to go. Multiple open systems to enter a $500k Major is huge.

the fact that it is an open system for a $500k major is the problem

How so? Think of the dozens of open bracket tournaments MLG ran that allowed unknowns to shine. Some of the biggest legends in the COD/Halo world went through that process.

Isn't the fact there's open qualifiers already accounting for unknowns to shine? Don't see a single reason why we need to sell spots... The rest of the teams paid the same registration fee even though they managed to come out on top amongst 400+ teams

You're forgetting ALGS points for the qualified teams. Teams that bought the pass don't get that. And what's wrong with having the opportunity open on multiple levels. I see tweaks, but more chances for teams we don't know to enter, the better for the grassroots scene.

I'm all for having opportunities for unknown players to prove themselves. Buying into a major tournament is just not it. It's unfair towards everyone else who doesn't manage to buy that slot. ALGS points have nothing to do with this imo, because that's what players fought for.

How is it bad for teams to buy a slot into this tournament, but fine for the MLG tourneys that had 200+ teams signing up/paying for a slot to compete? I think we're missing the value of the open nature of this.

It's not bad per say, what's bad is the fact that the teams that buy in is on the exact same ground entering the tournament as the teams that went trough the qualifiers and placed top 20. That doesn't make ANY sense to me what so ever.
