In FPS games, what is the correlation between - TTK (time to kill) and appeal to casual players? I always thought higher TTK meant higher appeal to casual, but apparently it's the opposite because lower TTK = less adept players can still get kills? Does this sound about right?

Depends whether the means of low TTK is easy to use or not, e.g. "noobtube" in CoD --> easy to use, one shots vs. oneshotting someone with a skilled combo or a headshot from range with damage dropoff

Oh I meant more for normal hitscan weapons (m4, ak - rifles)

Yeah for "normal" guns i think casuals prefer low ttk, most recent example would be the peacekeeper changes in apex... they were changed to be more consistent but ended up being too strong, casuals liked it because they could kill much more than before, pros hated it
