The point of that isn't so much the competitive fairness so much as letting viewers see their Zen.

If it were teams banning potentially they’d never play zen if teams consistently ban him

But thats the whole point. Having a pick like that is good cause it forces teams to ban something, even if it isn't necessarily meta. Having these rng bans means that competitive is thoroughly undermined by not having any strategic depth.
