And "to not stand out" when the kill feed has Wraith1234 slaying out; wearing her signature blue, orange, and bald on the banner rocking 25K kills?

Worse if you're
@ShivFPS (saw him on the thread, let's wrangle him here) slaying as Bang1234 -- a legend less picked by streamers. Should his banner show nothing -- 100K kills to identifiable? Should his cosmetics be randomized?2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

Randomize the name and have an option to be able to randomize your banner for stats etc, also an option to randomize your cosmetic every time u go into a game so aka every game my name is hidden the stats are random and my skin is different just like how fortnite has it

Any opinions on how the name is randomized? My coder brain still thinks it'd be identifiable as a streamer with out a huge corpus, while staying within ToS.

can put it on the user to write a list of names and have a system randomize which name from the list is displayed

Having the user provide a name would work for me, but it wouldn't for our 1st party partners, as they don't let us hook into their name policies. In other words, what sounds easy is very not easy or impossible.

work with partners to get a long list of pre-approved names and only allow those pre-approved names in apex, set up ways of having names be approved manually by the partner that fits inside their name policy if people want to be really picky

Why not the names just be legend (the word not the one they’re playing) and then a randomly generated number, seems a lot easier than having to make a list of names. And conceal stats, and randomize their banner to any legends banner

I'm concerned a name identifiable as a streamer mode name is just as likely to attract getting chased down on the server. There are benefits to that alone, but I'm trying to have everyone on the thread think and discuss the hard parts or more ideal solutions.

If you're specifically looking to kill streamers (aka streamsniping) sure. But if you're just gaming not aware Imperialhal is currently streaming, you might not realize FunnyOrange57 is hal and therefore are significantly less likely to try and hunt him imo?
