Oh wow this is actually even worse than I thought, with prize distribution like this it’s almost unacceptable to not have online qualifiers for this event, and makes not covering T&A even worse for a lot of teams
It's LAN qualifiers, 80 teams will be narrowed down to 20 in a double elimination bracket. Once qualified for the actual tournament you have prizemoney guaranteed, it makes sense not to pay players' travel&stay that aren't even qualified imo.
It’s an invite only lan qualifier, if it wasn’t invite only it’d be a way different message being sent, I think having online or at least partial online qualifiers for this was the way to go for sure

It makes more sense to forgo the expense all together and have online qualifiers. If you can't build a system to track participants to your liking, then offermore local qualifiers so travel is not as expensive. Or just make it an invitational.
Knowing it's an invitational makes not covering travel even worse.
