Kind of but not exactly. Uplay games have to use Uplay anyways. They probably ran the numbers and believe they will retain enough of the purchases through Uplay alone to be worth the store swap.

Buying candy from different store has no impact on your candy inventory organization Again without price difference why have some games in your epic launcher , some in your uplay launcher and some in steam ? Makes sense why why publishers think it’s a good idea
