Wow, didn't expect it to happen so soon. If that's true, it's basically game over for US semiconductor sanctions... Also extremely bad news for Dutch company ASML, because that makes them largely irrelevant.

Monetary policy's *fiscal* channel. Rate hikes increase the deficit and support some private sector spending via the interest income channel. But as the economy slows, the Fed's rate hikes will trigger a *further* increase in the deficit via the automatic stabilizers.

This is a disgusting display of the abuse of identity politics. bell hooks spent almost the entirety of her adult life fighting capitalism & to invoke her work, just months after her death when she can no longer command you to stop, in yr efforts to break this strike, is gross.

This whole railroad workers episode further clarifies that the "essential worker" discourse we've been bombarded with for almost 3 yrs is about disciplining workers to labor in perilous conditions, and not about respecting and protecting the people who do vital work.
