1/ Yes, there are Christmas trees, wreaths, Menorahs, kinara, lights, and dreidels. All symbols of faith, and love, and caring, and community.

2/Yes, Virginia, there are holiday celebrations that are inclusive of all the residents of the 1st District, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and this great country.

3/Contrary to what you hear from some people on TV, there is no war on Christmas, or on the ideals of the "founding fathers." Instead, there is a diversion away from the real issues that are about to be made public in our great nation.

4/Yes, Virginia, there is a Christmas but there's no CHIP insurance to keep our children healthy. Our veterans are homeless, receive sub-standard medical care, and are often ignored, despite their service to this great country of ours.

5/Our enlisted personnel aren’t paid enough to feed their families, and are forced to rely on food stamps, yet are willing to give their very lives to protect our freedoms.

6/Our safety officers (police, fire, EMS, coroners, and first responders) work long hours for little pay and run toward the dangers most of us run from, yet they are paid far less than their sacrifices are worth.

6/Our public school teachers are tasked with educating future generations, yet their paychecks don’t reflect the important role they play – this newest tax bill even takes away their ability to even write off personal expenses for classroom supplies.

7/Yet, our representative in Congress, Rob Wittman, does not wish to INVEST in those who give so much to all of us. There is no war on Christmas, Virginia, but there is a war that is being waged, and it is using apathy and ignorance.

8/Your representative in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, Rob Wittman, is more concerned about whether or not we say “Merry Christmas” than he is about your health, your pocketbook, or your future.

9/ He runs from those who try to talk to him. He hides behind closed doors and refuses to share his opinions on issues of substance.

10/In this great nation of ours, men like Rob Wittman go to Washington to represent us in Congress but don’t really pay much attention to the people who elect them.

11/Our representative in Congress speaks out saying he’s going to protect the “symbols and traditions of Christmas”, and misquotes the number of the House Resolution that he co-wrote.

12/Sadly, Virginia, Rep. Wittman confuses “Saving the symbols and traditions of Christmas” (H. Res 637) with a resolution (H. Res 647) which supports a bill to alter the way small businesses change hands (H.R. 477).

13/There is no war on Christmas, Virginia, but what is coming is a challenge to the incumbent, Rob Wittman, who, for ten years, has held a seat in the People’s House, while neglecting the wants and needs of the people who elected him.

14/He ignores the people of the 19 counties and the city of Fredericksburg, which make up the 1st District of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

15/I’m Vangie Wiliams. I won’t run from the people, Virginia; I’m running FOR the people. I won’t hide behind resolutions with no backbone. I want to INVEST in average Americans. I want to bring COMMON SENSE back to Washington.
