Four years ago, 49 people lost their lives in the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.
This was a horrific attack against the LGBTQ+ community and the Hispanic community, committed by a man with hate in his heart.

People who had been the joy in the lives of those around them, were dreaming of another experience and taking an evening to enjoy the world around them. We must work together to stop these tragedies and change the message from fear and anger to one of understanding and respect.

One of the best ways to achieve this is through our education system. Introduce policies to fight discrimination and pace the way so our youth can foster confidence in themselves.

We can turn the tide of hate and enable tolerance to grow. Everyone is different and embracing that is fundamental. We must accept who we are and the same for others.

A strong start is when we are expanding sex education to include more than just a hetero-perspective, strengthening protections for LGBT teachers and eliminating policies which greatly restrict self expression.

We must have strong leaders who are not afraid to take on this discussion and embrace it. We are seeing the opposite in the White House and no changes made here.
