Change is not easy, but it's right here. Like many Americans, I did not have a textbook start in life. Growing up in different households, struggling to get to the same level where other people were with education, housing and resources.
I finally was offered community help with a hand up to get me on the pathway to steady employment and my future education. Now at 51, I have multiple degrees and have led many teams to success. However, that success is still met with resistance based on my race and gender.
Many have gotten where I am today without the extra struggle but many more are like me. Running for Congress is no different. Even though I have the experience for Congress, I still have to fight to be taken seriously. That, is what makes me the most qualified.
The recent turning point for the US and Virginia proves that what I am doing is the right step, but that doesn’t change this from being the fight of our lives. In 13 days is the Virginia primary. And on November 3, is the most pivotal election in our history.
The tipping point depends on you. First and foremost, you must get out and vote. Second, is having someone to vote for. Donating to my campaign gives you that option. Supporting my campaign will change Virginia’s history and show that progress is worth it.
