I did the same exact thing when I had a stroke. I refused an ambulance and waited for my mom to come and get me. My head had the most horrible pain and I was terrified, but I knew what that ambulance cost.
This is the sad state of our healthcare system today. A woman who clearly needs urgent medical attention is more fearful of the costs and medical debt she'll incur from an ambulance than actually getting the treatment she needs. http://bit.ly/2KMZaTp pic.twitter.com/fujnx71DeJ

That's frustrating and heartbreaking to hear. You shouldn't have had to make that decision. Yet, people make that choice everyday. We must work to improve health care and access in this country.
