    Hugh was truly 1 of a kind. I'll never forget signing him & Miriam Mkeba at Mercury records when I was an A&R there...And my grandson Sunny's father also produced his '68 hit "Grazing in the Grass." Thank U for the music & for ur contributions to society..Bra Hugh. RIP my friend.

    Bra Hugh, Hugh Masekela has passed on due to prostate cancer. His classic, Grazing In The Grass topped the Billboard Hot 100. He was the first African male Grammy nominee (1968). He won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the CHOMVA, Ghana Music Awards, Jazz FM Awards and MAMAs.
