Are you gonna use paging from Architecture Components?
I wanted to but I tried implementing them for previous paging requirements in Curated and it didn't work out so well for me. Feels like when you're not using Room it's just a lot of hassle to set them up.

It does really feel that if you don't plan on using it with Room and have it create the data sources for you then it's just extra difficult to pull off. It ended up being easier to do my own paging implementation in the end
