I always review the PRs I open if they're sufficiently chunky - I find I can pick up on the obvious issues my code has that way. It helps reviewers focus on what's important.

Same here. But I do it regardless of PR size. There is something to be said about using the same UI you use to critique other people's work, to also force you into self-critique mode. I also self-review while previewing the PR, before actually creating it.
