I'm continously surprised at how many programmers don't know or don't do breakpoint debugging. It's one of the best tools at your disposal. Use it.

But it works out of the box on Android; in many web environments it's harder to set up and you need to do special stuff on your server first. That means it's can sometimes be less hassle to just stick in extra logging statements or something.
Yeah, I agree it can be hassle to setup - prime example is setting up Xdebug for PHP. But once you do you don't have to think about it again.

Sure; but in my experience many web shops don't bother which I think explains why many dev's who started on that route don't think about it as a tool so much, or may not even know about it.

That's a correct observation I think. I started my journey with C++ in Visual Studio and the debugger has always been my friend. I guess a lot of devs that start with JS or other high-level languages probably don't get told about it enough?
