I feel the same way, but I do something different: Turn off all notifications (not the same as DND); only getting notified when I open an app. Any particular reason why you like DND more?
I've had my phone on do not disturb for longer and longer periods thought-out the day now and it's been great.

I still see the value in notifications. DND just gives me some more control over them - accessing them on a schedule I want.
