📢 Heads up Virginia businesses! The reduced sales tax rate on groceries will first be reflected on your Jan. 2023 sales tax return (due 2/20/23). Quarterly filers, the new rate is in effect for your January - March 2023 return (due 4/20/23). More info:
Starting next year, you may notice a change on your receipts 🧾 from the grocery store. The sales tax rate on groceries (🥫 food for home consumption & certain essential personal hygiene items) will be reduced to 1% beginning January 1, 2023. Learn more:

Starting Jan. 1, 2023, Albemarle County, Charlottesville City, and Fairfax City will join several other localities in requiring retailers to collect a 5-cent tax for each disposable plastic bag they provide customers. More info: bit.ly/3Hw21jY
