    1839: This shawl is thought to have derived from a gift made by the Shah of Persia to Queen Victoria. A French fashion magazine of April 1839 spoke of a shawl with a border depicting a procession of dignitaries, musicians, Arab horses, elephants and camels. Maker unknown.
