It is hard enough to get the views you required, but now you expect every creator get 4,000 + hours of watch time in a month? Fuck off. You know that is ridiculous and yet you did it anyway. I honestly cannot defend your lack of logic here.
The fact that you think this will help rather than hinder your site and its users prove to me along with everyone else that you really do not care about smaller channels, much less your the users of your site at all.
I will end with this. You lie through your digital teeth, you now make almost impossible goals for a number of channels and I have to ask myself what fuck all you will spring upon us next. I am honestly afraid of what you have left in your bag of trick. Truly I am.
You need to shape up folks and quick. These tactics will only hurt you more in the end. Start listening to your creators big and small. Only then will you be truly YOU-tube. That is all.
The bottom line is, they DON'T care about small channels. They're pretty great at pushing medium and large channels, but you're on your own to build up a following in the first place. I can see why from a business point of view, but it's a shame for creators.
Honestly to me, given past actions, it is a way to cover their tracks and say we fucked up, but we are putting the burden on you because someone else fucked up. I understand some points of it, but others are just face palm worthy.
They don't seem to care about people stretching a video out to 30+ minutes to get those high watch times, though! Or seem bothered about this wave of disturbing 30+ minutes kids videos that just repeat random stuff to take advantage of their algorithms.
And who may those people following the new algorithm be? Creepy kids channels and Vine compilers.
