It's worth mentioning, computational models of facial beauty seems to be quite a thing in Hong Kong, China, and Korea (though that might just be the rabbit holes that I got lost in a few years ago). It's pretty wild.

I've been collecting research on computational models of facial beauty. It seems quite big China. Some of it seems quite shockingly 'wrong' or unethical (to us in west?), but I wonder if our culture is any less obsessed w beauty, we just don't like to openly admit or talk abt it.

The effect seems to do different things to different ppl. On men in general it's very subtle (not so subtle on women, much harsher & unrealistic expectations). But even on men it's not just "makeup", it makes structural changes (which is trivial once it builds the face 3d mesh).
