Urgh. I’m sweating so badly madly scrubbing the oven as a distraction. And I know the result!

Did you know an octopus can dream? Turns out they go a whole range of mad colours when they’re asleep. Question of the morning, what’s the plural for octopus? Octopi? Octopussies?

I feel a bit robbed losing . Yes, presenting with him is like trying to ride a rocket around a room made of glass. There’s his public delight in the absurd & his AWFUL Dad jokes. But he’s also extremely kind. An ally, a champion & an antidote. He’s the very best.

Years ago I came home from work to find that my toddler daughter was sat by the goldfish bowl with 1 goldfish in each hand. She had rescued them from drowning in the water !

This is Dom. Not knowing whether we might face fire or foe after being told to evacuate he burst out into the newsroom first, just in case. As it turns out, everything was just fine. & his last act before ending a nightshift? Delivering a cup of tea to the desk

Most popular story of the morning: the Colombian firefighters who came to the rescue of goats on a roof. Tell me, what’s the weirdest thing you’ve rescued? I’ll go first. Every week I rescue goldfish from an outflow pipe. This was the lucky flipper last week.

In 1950 there were 2.5 billion people on Earth. Today, that figure has more than tripled. We’re already dumping more than 2 billion tonnes of waste a year. On we ask Can we really recycle our way out of resource burnout & a climate crisis?

The generosity of gardeners! A bundle of joy from Ed Flint stuffed across the child seats this afternoon. Thrust into the ground & pollarded this’ll mark the gentle switch from the garden to the wilderness beyond

Ok, we knew January would be bad. And in 2020 the economy suffered its biggest blow since 1709. But however bad the view in the rear view mirror looks, the UK is on a clear path towards a recovery. The UK’s vaccination distribution scheme is one of the best in the world.

There are times I despair of this world. Like reading my handover for tomorrow’s news show & trying to get my head around the blockchain trade of digital art, tweets & memes for hundreds of thousands of pounds. Tune in for some straight talking from 0500
