HAPPENING NOW: BLM Vernal Field Office is conducting a prescribed pile burn on approximately 160 acres this week in the Pine Springs area of the Book Cliffs. The prescribed burn will reduce the buildup of pinyon juniper and help protect the native ponderosa pine stand.

Burning a pile of stubble could cost a mountain of money. Before you burn, take caution: Notify the fire department. Check for red flag warnings. Get proper permits. Notify the neighbors. That's good #FireSense.

Cedar City Ranger District fire crews successfully completed prescribed burning operations yesterday near Duck Creek Village and Sydney Rd/Yankee Meadows. Crews will continue to monitor the piles for residual heat. Smoke may be visible for 5-10 days. Please do not report.

#uwcnf Weather permitting Logan/Ogden Ranger Districts fire personnel plan to burn slash piles to reduce hazardous fuels starting Friday Dec 2nd in the Red Ryder project area which is located within portions of Rich and Cache Counties, approximately 45 miles east of Logan, Utah.

Over the last two years, human-caused wildfires have decreased significantly. From over 830 in 2020 to under 500 in 2022. Thank you for dousing your campfires, maintaining your vehicles to prevent road fires, staying in bounds with fire works, and keeping our state beautiful.

As Utah's historic drought continues, #FireSense has been on the minds of many Utahns. Since 2020, Human-caused wildfire numbers have dropped from 830 in 2020 to under 500 in 2022. This is an incredible accomplishment. Thank you for preserving the beauty of our state.

Duck Fuels Project: Pile burning today along Mammoth Creek road and highway 14, behind Cedar Mountain fire station in Kane County. Fire personnel will burn 1600 piles for 12 acres. Burning will continue tomorrow. Smoke will be visible in surrounding areas. #ffslkw

#uwcnf Today fire personnel on the Mountain View Ranger District finished burning piles at Burnt Beaver. Crews completed 3200 hand piles for 90 acres. Area will be patrolled until significant moisture is received.

#uwcnf Fire personnel Mountain View Ranger District completed 170 piles for 450 acres Eastern Roughneck units yesterday. 100 acres remain in the unit which crews will complete today. Crews will move further east and start burning in Burnt Beaver units east of Hoop Lake.
