It is some of my experience with family - Self diagnose & tell the doctor you saw an ad for something & then you have a prescription for it. Ads are a way doctors Don't have to spend any real time with patients.

I had four wisdom teeth pulled and ended up getting a prescription for a bunch of painkillers. I took only one the day after and got through it. I know what these pills do.

You're right and so is Andrew. But we can use those ads to our advantage by researching the drugs by their chemical, as well as their Brand names before we ever fill a prescription and refusing the ones that would do us no good!

I’m a nurse practitioner in primary care. Many of my patients’ insurance plans do not cover/prefer these tv-advertised fancy namebrand drugs. It’s mind boggling how much money is wasted on these ads when it could be used to make drugs more affordable. I usually prescribe generics
