To answer the call for #democracydollars, it’s called public election financing. Giving Americans $100 isn’t comprehensive enough to fix corruption. We need a BAN on corporate influence and a cap on max donations, with the inclusion of donor matching from the FEC.
This model over #democracydollars has proven benefits and now, several municipalities are using it for local races in America. Montgomery County is the closest example to home. Australia is top 10 in the best Democracy rankings, and arguably its because of this.
Part of my #restoredemocracy plan is to support @RepAdamSchiff’s constitutional amendment to undo #CitizensUnited and in addition, pass a federal public financing act that REQUIRES candidates to opt in to this model if they wish to run.
