He is merely reporting the Parliamentarian's ruling. He's not agreeing with it. He's in the chair right now so he is the presiding officer. That's his job right now.

Hoyer took the gavel because he is the number two in the House and felt that it was his duty to report the news.

It’s not a question of “supporting Hoyer.” Object to the House rules if you want, but they are how the body operates. Besides, this is strictly procedural. It will only strike them from the actual Congressional record. It’s not like the comments never happened at all.

I’d wager Pelosi probably knew this would happen. But she also knows that there are plenty of other records out there of the comments in this day and age. So this is strictly procedural.

Oh, and I’d add that the current House is actually following its own rules, unlike the last one, which looked the other way on many things like ethical violations by certain members. Which is a good thing overall, even if we don’t always like individual applications.

Couple points here: 1: Hoyer did exactly what he should have here, which is to follow, not break, House rules. The fact that you don't like him or what's happening does not change that. Deal with it. 2: He still sucks. Primary the hell out of him.
