My road to motherhood has been quite the journey. On May 12th 2016, our little boy moved in to his Ninja Turtle room. Our goal was simply to make him feel safe & loved. He was 8 years old. 2 weeks later we lost the only caregiver he had ever known to cancer. 1/2
Every year we celebrate May 12th as the day we became a family and Mother’s Day is a day to honor his late “mommy in heaven.” This year, has been different. He still misses “mommy in heaven” but he expressed a desire to celebrate us for Mother’s Day. 2/2
This is for all the moms who expected to become mommies, the ones who didn’t, the ones who had to earn it, the stepmoms, grandmas, women who stepped in to love a child and to all the women including my wife who’ve showed me the way. Happy Mother’s Day!
