This is the official @seattledot recommended route for people detouring around the closed Spokane Street bridge by bike, as included in a blog post the department just put out. SDOT recommends taking the lane on 1st Ave S or using the sidewalk. sdotblog.seattle.gov/2022/12/29/res

You are not naive and your read was correct. We are working on strengthening the bike detour and will provide more info shortly. There are multiple work streams launching as a result of the evolving maintenance issues of the Spokane St Bridge

pointed out, 1st Avenue was the site of deadly crash just last month when Celso Diaz was killed while biking to work. We agree that 1st Avenue needs an emergency protected bike lane ASAP before someone else is hurt or killed. #SEAbikes seattlebikeblog.com/2018/06/26/low
