Edmonds’ regressive, anti-housing city council has killed a multifamily housing project in the city center and possibly other future multifamily housing projects in the city center.

City email: “I thought I should provide another follow up before the July 4th holiday weekend. Some of you may have been following City Council deliberations related to the BD2 zone where the subject development was to be located. Interim design standards for multifamily only projects in the BD2 zone were adopted under Ordinance No. 4256 which would have applied to the development proposed under PLN2021-0066. However, the Council also adopted an interim amendment to the designated street under Ordinance No. 4262 which extended the mapped designated street in ECDC 16.43.030 further up Main Street in front of the subject property. As result, a multifamily only building can no longer be constructed at this location. So, the development envisioned under file number PLN2021-0066 can no longer proceed and there will not be a public hearing on this development on July 6th….”
