This is a smaller Electoral College / Congressional shakeup than expected. Minnesota, Rhode Island, and Alabama grew enough to stay off the 'lose a seat' bubble. Arizona ended up falling short of a pickup.
Texas was expected to gain 3 seats, but gained 2. Florida was expected to gain 2, but gain 1. Overall, congressional and local redistricting will still need to grapple with metro areas growing faster than rural areas. #waelex#redistricting#gerrymandering
Washington state clocked in at 7,705,281, which was a growth of nearly one million residents since the 2010 census. 980,741 to be exact. That's 14.6% growth over the decade. #Census2020
Oregon grew by 10.6% which was enough to gain a seat given coming up just short in the 2010 census. Oregon's official 2020 population: 4,237,256. Congressional districts as of 2022 election: six.
Seeing some Californians complaining about losing a congressional seat even though they grew by 2.28 million residents. Alas, as a state of nearly 40 million that growth corresponded to just 6.1% growth, below the national average. Pro tip: Maybe build more housing. #Census2020
