In another bizarre move, was the only no vote in a 14-1 board vote to lower Sounder fares for low-income riders to $1.50 to make fares consistent across Sound Transit services and lower the burden on low-income folks.

I'm extremely confused because Durkan said she was worried about lowering costs for low-income car owners, but apparently not for low-income transit riders? What gives?

UPDATE: Durkan just added an addendum saying she took the voted no because she wants free fares for students and low-income riders like Seattle did. Huh... Maybe announce that *before* your vote next time...

Voting against lowering Sounder fares to make a statement is weird because Mayor Durkan has never brought forward a free transit pass program at the regional level, at least to our knowledge. Others like have with #ORCA4All
