54% of very low income people (<$35k) rely on transit for most or all their transportation needs. A 0.1% increase in sales tax might cost them a few bucks, but sweeping bus cuts will cost them MUCH MUCH more.

I'm not entirely sold on the idea that a sales tax increase can be written off as not regressive if it goes toward progressive policy. But the data is pretty clear on who would most be impacted by Metro service cuts. That should be our focus.
