Hearing from a medic source that SFD and EMS have protocol requiring a Code 4 "all clear" before they dispatch assistance in an active shooter situation. And since the shooter escaped, that didn't happen. #CHOP #seattleprotests

I'm being told several medics called for emergency assistance after the shooting last night and dispatch told each of them they would not come. This is prior to police showing up. Does anyone have confirmation on this?

The #CHOP medic team did have licensed paramedics on hand who responded and provided care and evacuated the first victim to Harborview before SPD showed up 20-30 minutes later. Police typically give the Code 4.

Paramedics or EMTs or EMRs? Harborview trained paramedics? If so, good. During these protests I've seen people who are certified EMRs claiming to be certified medics. Only is the broadest definition of medics.

Licensed medics? Licensed by CHOP? And if the precinct had been staffed by police, how fast would the response time have been? Was the trauma center at CHAZ full? So many ways this could have been avoided and better response provided...
